Valleys to Blue Notes

Valleys to Blue Notes, the latest collaboration between Sandeep Raval and Durgesh Parmar, is a cross-cultural journey that bridges India’s ancient soundscapes with the improvisational spirit of jazz. The work was commissioned by Parmar, who also performs tabla & percussions, while the composition, writing, and production were crafted by Raval. The piece begins in the Himalayan valleys, where the breath of stillness carries listeners into serenity. As tabla rhythms gather momentum, the music flows into the bustling energy of city streets alive with the colours and freedoms of jazz. Ultimately, the journey comes full circle, returning to the quiet voice of bamboo winds an echo of balance, where past and present, intimacy and vastness, tradition and modernity exist in harmony.
